Bit sad, but what with running my website design business, me wanting to do my running and other stuff, something had to give.

Next season I’ll be growing my own at home! I’ve already plonked the chrerry and plum trees from the plot in our front garden.

I’m looking forward to growing what I can in the limited space I’ll have available.

Brought a couple of courgettes home today - you’d never see them that shape in a supermarket!

Anyways, much to my disappointment the unearthed bulbs were titchy ! Great smell of garlic but really small bulbs. Fingers crossed the rest of them aren’t the same. I’m now wondering if I should’ve weeded more between each garlic plant ….could be yet another mistake… bleeding nora!

I think we’ll freeze them. The BBC suggests you don’t need to blanch them but I’ve read elsewhere that you should blanch them? Any suggestions?

Something is eating my strawberries - is it the birds?? My planted last late autumn plants aren’t currently producing that many fruits so it’s a bit disappointing to see a few being munched. I must get some straw pretty soon too.

Apologies for the lack of blog posts in the last month - I’ve just not had the time to blog here alongside all the other internet work I do (I am hoping to get some gardening merchants on our discount codes site in the near future). But I’ve been doing a bit down on the plot …sweetcorn plants have been planted out along with the courgettes (do I need to feed them with anything?). Tomato plants (sweet marillion) have been planted out in the greenhouse border and I’ve got another load to plant outside (and give away ‘cos I’ve got too many).

Weeds… I swear they grow quicker after they’ve been dug up. I weeded around the onions one day - two days later they’re back. I’ve been working on the front end of the plot when time permits, marking out bed areas and putting old carpet down inbetween with bark plonked on top (oh it’s all very technical). Those horse tails (mares tails) are most certainly the Devil’s work (with roots 6.5 feet long apparently)

I spent a few hours down on the plot this Saturday morning and planted all my potatoes out. I’m growing Estima again (see last years plant out) and I’m also growing Maris Piper this year too.

Frank and Dave were next door planting their’s out and they were using a pogo-stick type thingy to simply make the holes to plonk the seed potato in. If my plot didn’t need a good dig over and weed I would have done it that way myself. As it was I had a jolly good time with my best spade digging away all morning - I’m hoping to be able to stand up straight again soon!

Some idiot(s) decided to break-in to mine and other plot holders sheds sometime yesterday evening. In my case they burst the hasp and staple - the latch bit that the padlock goes on - so I’ve now got a small repair job to do.

About 10 sheds were done in total and other people lost some useful bits and bobs I gather. As I don’t store anything of value (to anyone else) in my shed nothing was taken this time. I’ll have a search for a bit of wood for the repair and maybe find a stronger way of fixing the lock.

Bit a bit of weeding done this afternoon where my spuds are going in - soon!
